Air Force PT Test Chart

One page that shows how the USAF Physical Fitness Assessment is scored: the three components, the points each carries, the baseline minimums this site's PT calculator enforces for men and women, and links to a standards page for every age group.

How the 100-point score is built
Every assessment combines one aerobic option, one upper-body strength option, and one core option. The composite is the sum of the three component scores.
ComponentApproved optionsMax points
Aerobic1.5-mile run, 2-km walk, or HAMR shuttle run60
Strength 1Push-ups or hand-release push-ups20
Strength 2Sit-ups, cross-leg reverse crunches, or forearm plank20
Composite totalPass at 75+, Excellent at 90+100

Two rules sit on top of the points: you must meet the minimum in every component you take (a single missed minimum fails the test), and your waist-to-height ratio must be 0.55 or lower to pass body composition.

Calculator baseline minimums: men and women
These are the component minimums this site's calculator scores against - its single baseline per gender. The official DAFMAN 36-2905 charts adjust these lines by five-year age group; use the age pages below and the regulation for your exact requirement.

PT test chart FAQs

Where do I find the official Air Force PT test chart?

The official score charts live in DAFMAN 36-2905, The Air Force Physical Fitness Program, which publishes a full table per gender and five-year age group. This page summarizes how the test is scored and what this site's calculator enforces, and our regulations guide explains the policy around testing.

How is the Air Force PT test scored?

The composite is 100 points: the aerobic component is worth up to 60, and each of the two strength components up to 20. You need 75 points or more to pass and 90 or more for an Excellent rating, and you must also meet the minimum in every component you test.

Does the PT test chart change with age?

The official DAFMAN 36-2905 charts do: requirements step through five-year age groups (under 25, 25-29, and so on through 60+). This site's calculator applies one baseline set of minimums per gender across all ages, which is why every age-group page on this site links you back to the official charts for your exact line.

Are the 2-km walk and HAMR shuttle run on the chart?

Yes, as approved alternate aerobic components for members with medical authorization. In this calculator the baseline walk ceilings are 18:30 for men and 21:35 for women, and the baseline HAMR floors are 20 shuttles and 15 shuttles.

Is body composition part of the PT score?

It carries no points but acts as a gate: a waist-to-height ratio above 0.55 fails the assessment in this calculator regardless of how many composite points you earn. Measure waist circumference divided by height, both in inches.
