Body Composition (WHtR)
Waist-to-Height Ratio (WHtR) is scored on its own 0-20 point scale, not a pass/fail gate. Full points at 0.49 or lower, tapering to zero at 0.60 or higher.

Calculation: Waist Circumference (inches) / Height (inches)

Full points: ratio of 0.49 or lower (20 of 20 points)

Zero points: ratio of 0.60 or higher

Refer to AFMAN 36-2905 for specific measurement procedures.

Alternate Exercises

The Air Force provides alternate exercises for members with medical limitations or specific exemptions. These include:

  • 2-km Walk (aerobic)
  • Hand-Release Push-ups (strength)
  • Cross-Leg Reverse Crunches (strength)
  • Forearm Plank (strength)
  • HAMR Shuttle Run (High Aerobic Multi-shuttle Run - aerobic)

Scoring charts for these alternate exercises are also available in DAFMAN 36-2905. Our PT Calculator supports these alternates.
